Making This Year the Best it Could Be

Can you believe that it’s already 2016? I am in total disbelief that 2015 is over. It ended very quick. I don’t know if anyone else notices it as well, but I feel like the older I get, the quicker time passes. Maybe we fall into our routines and it probably reaches a moment n which you just go through the movements, almost in a robotic manner and you don’t even realize that time is passing. At the same time, with our bustling lives, it sometimes feels as if there isn’t even enough time to sit down, take a breath and look at the clock.

I hope everyone ended 2015 with a bang and started 2016 in the most fabulous and fantastic of ways. I hope that the hangover you had on January 1st was well worth it!

Now that we have officially welcomed 2016 and that we are already a week into the new year we need to work towards making this year memorable. No two years or two days will ever be the same, so we have to make every day count!

Here are 11 tips to make this New Year the best it could be!

  1. Set reasonable New Year resolutions. uwaqc4mhlfhmy
Please don’t say “New Year, new me,” or use it as a resolution for the new year because we all know that won’t happen. I’m sorry but there is no way you became a completely different or new person in the sixty seconds that passed between 11:59 p.m. on December 31st and 12:00 a.m. on January 1st. Please, just don’t say that phrase anymore, you’ll just look dumb. You can still make resolutions past January 1st, it’s just a matter of wanting to make small changes in your life.
  2. Set reasonable goals, make small changes and build on them.

Small changes are all it takes to make a significant difference in your life. You need to start small and build on it. It’s more likely that you will fulfill reasonable goals and complete small changes, rather working towards an outrageous goal. I assure you that you will eventually get discouraged and give up. You want to lose 40 pounds? Start out with smaller increments and you will feel accomplished and will want to keep going!
    Change takes time.
  3. Work on last year’s goals.

Maybe you weren’t able to complete all the things that you set your mind to last year, but guess what? It’s never too late to keep trying. So whatever you couldn’t previously accomplish last year, you can do now! If you really want something, I’m sure you can do it… don’t let anyone stop you! Better late than never.
  4. See through the bad and find the positive in all things.
    change
Change your outlook on life a little bit. Try not being so negative and so sour. When you have a positive outlook on things, it’s easier to get through your days and I assure you that you will be much happier. Bad things happen to everyone, but try to find the positive in everything. Always look at the brighter side of things and try to see the bigger picture, because at the end of the day, everything happens for a reason.
  5. Cut out the toxic people in your life.tumblr_miky5gt3ej1rl0hemo1_400
Someone once told me that you’re better off alone because it’s better to be alone than in bad company. You don’t need negative people in your life and you definitely don’t need the negative energy that they draw towards you.
  6. Take adventures and travel.

Look to the horizon and find somewhere new to go. It doesn’t matter if you don’t travel to a new country or continent, explore new places, even if they are close to where you live. Explore a new state or a new city. Go ahead and take an adventure.
  7. Try new things.

Don’t be boring and always fall into the same routine and same activities. Try something new and don’t be afraid to take risks.
  8. Do things that will make you feel good about yourself.

Have you been thinking of a new hair color or a new hairstyle? Go for it! If it will make you happy, don’t hesitate to try it. Have you been thinking of joining a gym? Go ahead and get that membership. Pamper yourself. Go and get your nails done, get a massage, go shopping, do whatever you need to do to feel good about yourself.
  9. Go out more!

Even on the days that you don’t want to go out and feel like you need to drag yourself out of your house, go out! Give yourself a time limit, if you don’t have fun within an hour or two, then go home. But don’t knock it until you try it! More likely than not, you will have fun and enjoy yourself. Who knows, you might go out and not only have fun with your friends, but you might make new friends, or a drinking buddy – who knows!
  10. Do whatever it takes to make you happy.

Do everything and anything that you want to do! If it will give you a sense of accomplishment and happiness, then go for it! Go out and do it! Have fun, and most importantly, be happy!
  11. No matter what, be yourself and love yourself.

Be yourself. You are unique and there is no other person in the world like you. Don’t be scared to express yourself. What other people think of you doesn’t matter, what’s most importantly is how you see yourself and I sure do hope that think of yourself highly. Don’t ever change who you are to please others. You may want to pursue some changes, but when you do, do it for you, not for others. How you see yourself is what matters most, so please, love yourself.

Let’s make this year count!
