Beauty on a Budget: Liquid Lippies

Hey there lovelies!

Everyone has been going crazy over liquid lipsticks and most importantly matte lips! Anastasia Beverly Hills makes some of the best liquid lipsticks out there, but come on guys… we don’t always want to spend $20 per lip color. What would you say if I told you that there is a cheaper alternative to liquid lipsticks?

As you all know, I am a strong supporter of drugstore make-up, because come on guys, money doesn’t grow on trees. I love to splurge on good make-up, but you don’t always have to blow all of your money on just one item. Drugstore brands are coming out with so many dupes to more expensive products, and let me tell you, it is a fabulous thing. Maybelline even has a Contour Kit. Promise a review will be coming soon, once I can get my hands on the right shade, the one they had at Wal-Mart was a darker shade than I needed.

In the mean time, look at these amazing liquid lipsticks that I found!

Maybelline and Revlon have great lines of liquid lipsticks! The best part?! They’re all under $8!

Maybelline: Vivid Matte Liquid by ColorSensational Lip in “10: Nude Flush

DSC_0684When I saw this one liquid lipstick it basically screamed perfection! It’s such a beautiful shade of a nude/neutral color. It’s somewhat of a dusty rose, but the best description I can give you is that it is a nude pink. The texture is extremely creamy. It is a liquid lipstick that is supposed to dry matte, but it does take some time for it to dry out. If it isn’t matte enough for you, just dab it softly with a tissue and it will solve all of your problems. Your best bet is to go in lightly, don’t try to smother a whole bunch on your lips because I assure you it will not look pretty. Before I forget, the product is extremely pigmented! For $6.94 at Walmart, I’m not complaining! If you can’t find it at Walmart, they are $7.99 at Ulta.

Revlon Liquid Lippies!
From top to bottom: Addiction, Obsession, Devotion!DSC_0646

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in “600: Devotion”

From the Revlon colors, this is one of my favorites. This color is a little darker than the Maybelline “Nude Flush” Liquid Lipstick. It’s almost a perfect shade of pink. This color is very light and natural in shade. It’s a fabulous rosey-pink shade.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in “605: Obsession”

Truthfully, someone gave me this liquid lipstick not too long ago. I am in love with the formula and the way it dries matte, but I cannot find myself liking it. It’s way too bright for my taste. The best way I can describe the color is: hot pink/fuschia, but it is a cooler tone. I’m more of a nude, light colored lip or a super dark color, the super brights aren’t for me. I’m just not able to pull it off.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in “610: Addiction”

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! That’s the best I can say about the shade “Addiction.” I promise you, you will fall in love with this shade of the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colors.  This is a dark, berry red color, or maybe even a rosey-wine color would be a good description. I could probably go as far as saying that it is the in-between of magenta and plum. I really like this color, because it’s a little darker in shade, and it’s definitely not as bright as “Obsession.” I literally wore this to work, applied it in the morning and it lasted me almost the whole day. I ate and didn’t take the lipstick off, and it was basically untouched. The color barely faded. I touched it up after lunch and it was perfection! All day! The best part is that it’s also like a lip stain, once you take it off, the color stays on slightly. I LOVE IT!

Revlon Liquid Lipsticks: Okay, let me put this out there, they are liquid lipsticks, but they don’t try matte immediately. The key is to layer/coat it on your lips to achieve a bolder color. Don’t expect to dump half the tube and expect it to dry matte. The best thing you could do is dab a tissue lightly over it, that will leave it completely matte.

Look at all the revlon swatches below, the picture on the left are the swatches alone, and the picture on the right is after lightly dabbing them with a tissue. (The swatches are in the order that I presented them above!)

It’s fabulous because the colors are highly pigmented, so you’re not really losing the color by dabbing them lightly. I did some research on other blogs prior to buying the liquid lipsticks and I must say that the main complain of everyone is that they don’t dry matte, but that isn’t really an issue, because it can be resolved. Don’t forget to moisturize your lips before applying the liquid lipstick. These lipsticks do not dry out your lips, they’re hydrating almost, and they have a velvet-y feel to them. It is amazing! $8 well spent!

Don’t forget the packaging, that’s cute too! And if you are trying to find a specific color, don’t worry if it takes you a little bit of time to find where the name is located, because I struggled… a lot. It’s on a little white sticker in the back.

Would I recommend the Revlon and Maybelline liquid lipsticks? Of course! I probably wouldn’t have taken the time to include all these pictures and all this text if I didn’t!
